“Our memories of the ocean will linger on, long after our footprints in the sand are gone.”

For our last date day before heading home, Mr. Cottage and I went to Siesta Key, which has been listed as one of the best beaches in the world...
Usually we've gone early in the morning before the crowds arrived and we would walk along the beach seeing lots of birds and even dolphins. By the time we arrived by mid morning, the parking lot was filling up fast and the beach was really getting crowded. I only saw a couple of birds along the shore this time and took the photo below of this lone bird with it's reflection in the tidal pool...
I also spend some time taking a number of photos along the beach showing the waves. I want to spend more time playing around with painting waves. They aren't as easy to do as you might think...
I know I can show you, but you really need to see the sand in person. It's very white and powdery and it never gets hot with the sun beating down on it...
After we left the beach we went into Siesta Key Village for coffee and a bit of shopping for the grandkids. I had discovered this new bakery a few weeks ago while shopping with the girls. The coffee here has got to be the best offered anywhere in the village...
Gosh, I hated to leave from here! I kept snapping photos as we drove down the key to head back to the mainland.
We can't wait to return next year and walk early in the morning without the crowds and seeing more wildlife! I LOVE SIESTA KEY!

Well, I'm glad you had a good winter! Hope you're going home to reasonably good weather!
