You've heard of the tool man, well...

Never say, "oops." Always say, "Ah, interesting."

I've always been one to venture out and try doing new things.  Years ago, I wanted to wallpaper a wall in our bedroom.  I had a friend who said she would help me, because I had never done this before.  When the time came and I called her, she told me she wouldn't be available for a few days.  I was anxious to start and didn't want to wait, so guess what?  I read my instructions really well, did my first plumb line and by the time my husband came home from work, the wall was finished.  From that point on, I wallpapered, painted, learned how to rivet my own handles that I made for the baskets I was weaving, hung art on the walls, and on and on.  So one year for Christmas, Mr. Cottage bought me my own tool kit.  Believe it or not, but I was thrilled!

I also have my own electric sander and staple gun.  So it should come as no surprise that I put together my own IKEA cabinet...

And, I put together the track lighting for my studio, reading and paying close attention to the polarity in the track line...

Mr. Cottage and I got the track screwed into the ceiling today and as I write this, the new lights are shining above me.  As soon as I get this room back into shape, I'll share some photos. Promise!

What have you attempted to try that really amazed you and your loved ones?

  1. Yeah, I'm the tool lady around here, too. Mr. Tattered says they don't make hammers that fit his hands!
