May Flower Challenge - Day 26, Unexpected Trip To The ER

Life if crazy...unexpected things happen everyday.

Just when you think everything is going along great, BAAMMM life has other surprises for you!  We're living at the cottage now and Mr. Cottage and a neighbor were trimming branches from another neighbor's tree yesterday.  Everyone was outside just getting caught up with one another when someone yelled.  One of the big branches somehow got caught or twisted and when it fell, it got hold of Mr. Cottage.  Fortunately, we have since discovered, it more or less grazed his head.  He ended up on the ground, broken sunglasses, huge lump on the side of his forehead and scrapes and a deep laceration.  911 was called and we finally convinced Mr. Cottage that he really needed to have this checked out.  So my sister-in-law and her husband (who live on the other side of the lake), drove us into town to the ER.

Long story short, Mr. Cottage is fine!  I didn't want to share any of the photos I took because I know some of you are squeamish.  Trust me, you would not want to look at them.  The CT said he was normal (that's debatable), but the doctor said he had sustained a mild concussion and to not do anything for awhile where he could hurt his head again.  They wanted to stitch him up, but Mr. Cottage said NO stitches.  So they did the next best thing, fixed him up and released him.  I'm just hoping the rest of this holiday weekend will continue to get better.

Before everything happened, Mr. Cottage did share something with me.  He asked me if I wanted to see a Bluegill bed.  I've heard him and his friends talking about this all the time.  I kept envisioning a bunch of bluegills swimming around in one little area.  Well, here it is...

I guess the bluegill gather stones and shells and literally make a bed for the female to lay her eggs in.  Then the male stays in the area to watch over the eggs.  So see, we all learned a little something today.

My flower for today is the blue salvia...

I love the color and shape of the flowers.  You can check out more flowers on Lori's blog.  I also wanted to share one more thing with you.  Remember the money plant I showed everyone on May 11, well this is what it looks like right now...

I love watching how they change so much.  Mr. Cottage just transplanted a few of them here at the cottage just yesterday.  We're really hoping they take hold.

  1. Carol, I'm so glad that Mr. Cottage is doing well. Thanks for sharing the ever changing money plant. It is so much fun to watch beauty in stages. xoxo

  2. I'm glad he didn't get hurt too badly. My hub is the direct opposite of most men when it comes to injuries. I tease him that he'd go to the dr. for a hangnail. But I'm glad your man is okay. Love the nest. Very interesting.
