Butterfly and Bees

“The butterfly's attractiveness derives not only from colors and symmetry: deeper motives contribute to it. We would not think them so beautiful if they did not fly, or if they flew straight and briskly like bees, or if they stung, or above all if they did not enact the perturbing mystery of metamorphosis: the latter assumes in our eyes the value of a badly decoded message, a symbol, a sign.”

I finished my 5th canvas from the c-course I'm taking with Kelly Hoernig called 5 days, 5 canvases.  My 4th canvas was with bees and I'm so happy on how they turned out...

It's hard to see from the photo, but their wings are three dimensional.  I'm thinking this is one of my favorite of all the ones I've painted.  If you want to see my others, click on the words and it will take you to my other blog postings about them:  Pear and Bees and Admiring Nature Through Art.

The 5th canvas is of a large butterfly...

I have to say that I've really learned a lot from Kelly offering this course.  And as a thank you for signing up for her very first e-course, she has thrown in an extra one.  So instead of 5 canvases, I will end up with 6.  But I'm not going to share this until I finish it sometime this coming week.

Feel free to tell me which one is your favorite.  I'd love to hear from you.  Really!!
