Just my luck

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

The other evening, my sister-in-law called from her cell phone.  They were on their pontoon and were near our cottage.  "Would we like to go for a pontoon ride?"  The evening was beautiful and we had no other plans, so the answer was YES!  I quickly grabbed my iPhone and something to drink and headed to the dock, along with Mr. Cottage.

As we rode around, I decided to take a quick photo of the setting sun and the red sky.  I got  my camera out and NOTHING!  Absolutely, NOTHING!  My battery was dead, dead, dead.  And I just knew what was going to happen from that point on.  Every time I don't have my camera, that's when I see things I want to take photos of.

So of course, I missed the setting sun; and as we were going through one of the channels, there was a muskrat swimming across it, very near to us.  Nice photo - NOT!  Then we saw a mommy duck swimming with her ducklings, another nice photo - NOT.  As we were going into Blue Lake, there were several deer near the channel.  Another nice photo - NOT!  We rode around Blue Lake and as we were starting to go back through the channel, there were more that several deer very close to us.  I could have used my camera with the flash and had a nice photo of them, but it wasn't going to happen.  So I did the next best thing I could do when I realized my camera was dead, I sat back and just enjoyed the ride and seeing nature at it's best.

The full moon was bright on the water and when we returned to our cottage, it was after 10:30 pm.  The weather and the ride were perfect.  I just have to make sure to keep my iPhone charged at all times.

In the meantime please enjoy one of my other photos of the perfect sunset...

  1. That is the story of my life, as well, so I had to laugh! You sure have beautiful sunsets where you are!
