The two most powerful warriors are patience and time.
Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy
Waiting and waiting can really be frustrating at times, and believe it or not, I have lots of patience. But something has happened and I think my patience is starting to wear a bit thin.
Mr. Cottage went home Wednesday evening because he had another commitment for Thursday. I told him to call me early the next morning because I was going to the flea market. When the call came, he told me he had been up since 2:30 am with stomach problems and pains. After I returned from the flea market, Mr. Cottage thought I should come on home and get him to the doctor. The PA thought it could be his gallbladder, but she also told him there was some kind of a "bug" going around. She arranged for an ultrasound for Friday morning.
So Mr. Cottage and I got there by 7:30 am. He was the first to be called in and when he came out he told me the technician told him that someone else will read the test and contact the doctor's office today. Well, let me tell you that nothing has happened so far and as I write this at almost 4 pm there have been no phone calls. Mr. Cottage called the drs. office earlier and they said they had not received anything but when they do they will call him right away.
So Mr. Cottage and I thought perhaps no news is good news and that if it were his gallbladder we would have heard something by now. Then again, I keep thinking maybe something got lost in the shuffle, or who knows what. I talked with son #2 and he said he has no faith in our medical system. I won't go into the details, but two years ago son #2 was in and out of the hospital and the Mayo Clinic for months. In the end, he said our medical system SUCKS.
So lets see how my patience will hold up through the weekend, especially if Mr. Cottage isn't doing much better and we still haven't gotten any phone call. He still has pain and is beyond tired, but he's no longer nauseous. I'll keep everyone posted as best as I can considering that we're in this holding pattern at the moment.
Wishing Mr. Cottage (and you) well. Hugs to you....
ReplyDeleteI hope he is feeling better! It is hard to wait.
ReplyDeleteI've had gallbladder problems which took almost a month to diagnosis, the entire time I was in agony...I agree with your son our medical system is a mess. My advice, if your husband isn't feeling better, is to go to the emergency room. They'll be able to get the ultrasound results and order a Hida Scan if necessary. Gallstones can lead to pancreatitis which can be life-threatening. Good Luck and I hope your husband gets well soon!
