After months and months of working on these four albums, I finally got to the part where Mr. Cottage and I get together, get engaged...
and get married...
One of the traits that drew me to Mr. Cottage was his sense of humor, so I had to include some of this in our albums...
I even included an envelope made of velum that had recipes I submitted to the newspaper,
report cards from school and other certificates...
I devoted 2 pages of obituary notices for family members...
Houses that Mr. Cottage and I grew up in...
And we mustn't forget our furry family members...
Even our granddogs were included, all four of them at the time I put this album together. Now we're up to five granddogs...
I included pages for each of our sons, with wedding invitations, baby photos, wedding photos. etc...
The last page has photos of our two grandkids, at the time, along with other fun photos to look at. I wrapped each album and gave them to the families as Christmas gifts for that year. Looking back on our parents and grandparents, I really wish they had done something similar to this because it's just so nice to know more about your family history and background. Unfortunately, years ago they didn't even talk much about their family history, let alone write it down. If you've ever thought about making something similar, start sorting through photos now. Don't wait until someday! Your family with be forever grateful.
These pages are so wonderful. It seems it takes forever sometimes to put together these albums, but then I'm so glad to have them when I need to take a trip down memory lane.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift, Carol!
