Nor rural sights alone, but rural sounds, exhilarate the spirit, and restore the tone of languid nature.
~William Cowper
Last evening we went to our friend's house, who happen to live out in the country. Our group of friends got together for the third year in a row for an evening of square dancing. Believe me when I say that we are all novices and most of us are getting on in age. Several people came for the wonderful food and then stayed and watched with laughter as the rest of us tried our hands and feet with square dancing once again.
Because Mr. Cottage and I just joined the social committee, we decided we should come a "little" early. As we were the first to arrive and it was still light out we got to see their newest additions...

I have a "thing" for roosters and chickens. There's just something about them that I'm drawn to and I was thrilled to see theirs. Unfortunately, something got into their fenced in area recently and killed two of them, so now they're down to just the two I'm showing you...

I think the closest I'll be get to having chickens will be the ones I'm planning on painting this winter...

FYI, this is the very first blog posting I've done, using my smartphone.
Love the chickens! And yay for posting on your phone...learning new things keeps us young, huh?!
