Dogs Are Like Kids

Did you ever walk into a room and forget why you walked in?  I think that is how dogs spend their lives.

Any of you who have children know that when it's very quiet, chances are that they're up to  no good.  Like the time I went to the living room and found our oldest child (about 2 or 3 at the time), sitting on the couch eating a package of lunchmeat and sharing lots of it with our dog.  The entire package was gone!

Well, we're dog sitting for Hoover again (one of our 5 granddogs).  Those who follow my blog know that Molly doesn't care much for Hoover and does everything she can to stay out of her way.  Hoover, on the other hand, loves trying to play with Molly...

This is Molly strolling right by Hoover...

And going to one of her "safe" places...

to hide from Hoover...

Tonight, Mr. Cottage was helping out at our church, so I fed the dogs and went about my business when I realized it was quiet and neither of them were around.  I knew Hoover doesn't go down to our lower level, so I started calling their names.  It took a few times and finally Hoover came out of our bedroom, followed by Molly.  I thought nothing of it at the time because I figured Molly went to find another spot and Hoover was just checking it out.  They both came into the living room and Molly went under the end table.  Next thing I knew, there was no Hoover.  I went back to our bedroom and low and behold...

I decided that Molly must have gone in first.  She's notorious for chewing tissues and papers.  Obviously, Hoover joined her and temporarily Molly must have been lost in the moment.  Just like kids, little angels and precious...

Mess or no mess, we love them!

  1. I love it, except for maybe the mess. Adorable dogs! This post reminds me of the dog shaming pictures, where the doggies have to wear signs that explain the mess they got themselves into. It's pitiful, endearing, and hysterical all in one.
Thanks for the laugh, Carol, this is a really sweet post. :)
