Lions and Tigers and Bears

Zoo animals are ambassadors for their cousins in the wild.

We spent a good portion of yesterday at the National Zoo in Washington D.C. with our grandkids and their parents.  I have to honestly say that I had several highlights of this visit.  Number one has got to be seeing the giant panda exhibit...

I've been to a number of zoos over the years, but none of them ever had the panda.  The crowds to see them was enormous, but well worth it.  The second highlight had to be the ape exhibit which had O Lines for the orangutans to swing from over a great distance.  The crowds of people watched in amazement directly below them.  We actually observed three of them crossing this O line...

Of course, you have to see the lions and tigers...

The grandkids had fun, but tired quickly with all the crowds and walking.  Trying to get a smile from our grandson wasn't to be had...

  1. Lovely shots! I am very familiar with the not being able to get a smile thing...You'd think they'd been tortured instead of having a great time!
