There's lots of people in this world who spend so much time watching their health that they haven't the time to enjoy it.
~Josh Billings
A number of years ago I was introduced to a really good restaurant that I've always enjoyed at called Mimi's Cafe. My first introduction to it was in Phoenix, AZ and every time I would go there to visit my mother, we always had to stop into Mimi's. I was entranced with their decor. It was French Country and had lots of roosters, which you know I have a "thing" for. We've been spending a few days in Virginia with our family. Today Mr. Cottage and I went to the Mimi's Cafe, which is only a couple of miles from were we've been staying. Michigan, unfortunately, doesn't have any in the state, so I rarely get a chance to eat at there...
The decor inside of this one was of New Orleans...
Even the art on the walls were great to look at. I really loved this one of an alligator with a Mardi Gras mask on...
I have to be honest and admit that I really didn't plan on eating healthy the minute we walked into their place. I've always loved their corn chowder, so I ordered it and then I ordered their bread pudding with whiskey sauce...
Unfortunately, our wait for everything was much too long, considering we only ordered soup and dessert. When the manager came over to ask how things were, Mr. Cottage mentioned this to her and much to our surprise we received a container of their wonderful muffins...
If you click right here, you'll get right to their recipe page. ENJOY!! Have you ever eaten at Mimi's Cafe and if so, what's your favorite item?

We used to eat at Mimi's from time to time, until we found a chunk of bacon in our country style potatoes, meaning they are not real careful on the grill about not mixing the meat products with the non-meat products, which is huge for me. I can only imagine how much bacon grease we inadvertently ate.
ReplyDeleteI love their decor and they make a very nice breakfast. I do miss it!
