Weather is a great metaphor for life - sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad, and there's nothing much you can do about it but carry an umbrella.
~Terri Guillemets
I literally dislike grocery shopping. It feels like such a waste of time (coming from an artist who would much rather spend the time in her studio), but if we want to eat it has to get done. Because I detest it so much, I go as infrequently as I have to which really means good planning on my part. Because I majored in Home Economics in college, it's an easy thing for me to do. When we live in Michigan I try to shop twice a month, at the beginning and in the middle. We'll it's past the middle and our cupboards are quite bare. I would have kept putting it off but then the weather forecast was for lots of rain beginning later today and continuing through the day tomorrow, with heavy downpours. We'll I've been there and done that before in heavy rain and it's not fun to load your car in that wetness. So I did my planning last night and got out and did my shopping this morning.
I'm also happy that I just found and bought a new umbrella the other day. My old one broke while we were in Florida and I just couldn't find one that looked like me. I know I've written about Kennedy's Floral and Gifts many times about it being one of my favorite stores to shop in. I had some extra time the other day while I was out and about and stopped in with my 20% discount that I receive from them once each month. This coupon can be used on pretty much anything in the store. I wasn't even looking for an umbrella when it found me...
I'm just happy that I've got my new and colorful umbrella and food is once again in our cupboards. So bring on the rain, I'm ready now!
I don't know why I've never been much of an umbrella girl. I finally succumbed to owning a raincoat, but for some reason, I'd rather just get wet...go figure.
