May Flower Challenge - Day 29, Basketweaving & Flowers

<><>
“Our life is composed greatly from dreams, from the unconscious, and they must be brought into connection with action. They must be woven together.”
Anais Nin

Early on in weaving baskets, I started to weave wide strips of veneer ash or veneer maple into some of the baskets, where either I painted on them or in some cases I paid others to help paint on them to save me time.  This first one is lightly stained and is painted with geraniums...

I stained a few of the baskets in a light gray which were a big seller...

The Southwest look was quite popular at the time and the one below was whitewashed after I made it.  It was more like a paint than a stain and took forever to do...

.

This is woven with reed and seagrass...

We've all heard of Nantucket Baskets.  I took a workshop where I made the following Nantucket basket; and after I finished it, I really understood why they cost so much.  They're woven on a wooden mold, with cane.  The one I made below is really small and it took hours to weave.  Look at the nails in the rim...

I have more of my baskets laying around the house and cottage, but this gives you an idea of what I made and sold for many years.  Just wondering if any of you have ever tried weaving a basket before.  It really is very relaxing!
