Don't forget that your spirit-twinkle makes life's rainbow shine bright.

I have always had a facination with miniatures. A number of years ago I went to my first miniature dollhouse show and purchased a handwoven plant stand. Next thing I knew I was going to more shows and purchasing more items. I finally decided I should probably purchase a dollhouse to decorate and put my finds into. So about 15 years ago, give or take, I finally purchased a dollhouse at a local show. It was made by A House That Jack Built. You can see some of the quality houses right here....
The houses were constructed, but I had to shingle, paint, do electrical wiring, etc. This is as far as I've made it, so far.
Everyone kept asking me when on earth I was going to have time to work on this, and my answer was always the same "I'll take my time and work on it for years. I'm in no hurry". Well, it has been years. In fact, it's been at least 5 years since I've done anything with it at all. We were in the process of selling our house and I had all my dollhouse items packed up when the call came that the deal fell through. So for 5 years my items have sat in boxes, undisturbed until now...
I still love my dollhouse and have every intention of working on it, some day. Actually, I'm at a point where I really am stuck. I put all my electrical wiring in (and yes, it does work), but now I need to do the wiring for the lights, which has really confused me. All the books and directions were so confusing, but I think with the internet and YouTube, I'm almost sure I can find good information out there, somewhere, to help me along...
I've even planned a small attic area (see the photo below) on the left side. I even found a little mouse and mouse trap to set in it.
Just doing this blog posting is getting me all excited to work on it again. If you click right here, you'll see my Pinterest board that I created for Miniatures. It's truly amazing what you can do in a dollhouse. I had a discussion years ago with one of our sons and told him a dollhouse can have anything that a real house has in it, and it can.
The one thing I did start up was a file where I put all my receipts for my dollhouse purchases. To this day, I've never added any of it up. I actually hate to think what it will come to and I'm not even close to being finished decorating it yet. I'm going to be decorating it in a 1940's-1950's look. I'm actually going to try finding a wringer washer for it. Won't that be fun! Now to find the information I need and to find more time...

It is so obvious that we are about the same age. I had a doll house once upon a time, but as a part of
ReplyDelete"de-cluttering" mine got tossed, because I couldn't see how or why I would EVER get back into it again, having not touched it for at least 2 decades. But here I sit w/ 2 granddaughters and wish I still had it. They would LOVE it! Have fun with it, Carol!
