I have never done an art journal, but I've seriously have thought about it. All you have to do is go to my Pinterest page and look for the board titled Art Journals and you'll see how I've been fascinated with them. You can click on the link above or look to the right side of my blog and click on the big P under social. All I know is I decided to sign up with the well known Pam Carriker to learn 6 techniques for journaling. Just as the other instructors, Pam was a fantastic instructor and was beyond friendly and sweet...
As with the other instructors, we got a goodies bag full of fun markers and a journal which had watercolor paper in it. Even before class began, I saw that Pam had some products for sale in the back of the room. My roommate, Cindy, had asked me to buy her some of Pam's new medium. So I bought one for her and one for myself, along with some Liquid Pencil Sketching Ink...
She also had one stencil in each goodies bag and then I purchased the other. Aren't they great...
We used large Tulip Paint Cannons which she told us how to make and where to buy everything we needed for these. We also used Bing Dauber Bottles which again she told us how to make and where to purchase them. Great ways to save by making our own and saving and not having to buy the more expensive containers in the stores. We used baby wipes, plastic wrap, Inktense Blocks, and I got introduced to Mulberry paper. We also learned different printing methods. For one method we printed onto the mulberry paper using a print paste. Another we used hand sanitizer to transfer the image and for the last we learned thermofax screen printing. I loved this latter one!! So much so that I used it to put an image onto her cloth goodies bag she gave everyone and onto my CREATE apron. What fun!

If you've never been to an art retreat, please make every attempt to attend one. The friendship, techniques and just the experience of the retreat is worth every cent.

ReplyDeleteGreat work, lucky you to get to do a Pam Carriker workshop - she got me into mixed media girly collages.
