Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies

Don't wreck a sublime chocolate experience by feeling guilty.

Finally, there's been a break in our weather and I got a chance to bake one of my favorites chocolate desserts.  I first found this recipe in Taste of Home a number of years ago.  It was named Two-Tone Brownies; but I like the name I've given it.  Everyone raves about this whenever they taste it.  It's just so yummy!

For the brownies, you can use a boxed brownie or one of your own recipes.  My brownie recipe is one I've had for years and I use it in place of the one from the original recipe.  Here's mine:

YUMMY BROWNIES

4 squares unsweetened chocolate
3/4 cup butter (1 1/2 sticks)
1 cup granulated sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup flour

Make sure you're using unsweetened chocolate...

Microwave the 4 chocolate squares and margarine in a large microwavable bowl at "high" for 2 minutes or until margarine is melted.  Make sure you're using unsweetened chocolate...

This is how it should look when it's removed from the microwave...

The chocolate will not be melted, but the butter will be hot.  Stir this mixture until the chocolate is completely melted!...

Stir in the sugar and mix well.  Stir in eggs and vanilla.  Mix.  Add the flour...

After it's mixed well, spread in a greased 8 x 8 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes...

DO NOT OVER BAKE!

While the brownies are cooling off, make the chocolate chip cookie dough.

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DOUGH

1/2 cup margarine, softened
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3 Tablespoons milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup flour
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Cream the butter and the sugars...

Beat in the milk and vanilla.  Gradually add the flour and then stir in the chocolate chips.  Drop by spoonfuls over the top of the cooled off brownies...  Spread evenly over the top.  Store in the refrigerator...

Just make sure you have the recipe handy when you serve this to your guests.  They'll definitely be asking for it or they'll be having seconds!  SO YUMMY!
