Some much needed time to bond

Grandchildren are God's way of compensating us for growing old

This past winter, while Mr. Cottage and I were in Florida, I was asked if I could reserve July 20 to babysit Corbin.  How could I refuse this chance to bond with my littlest guy.  So off I went yesterday, early enough to stop at Toys R Us to get him some goodies and then onto their house.  Because they live about 40-45 minutes from our house (not our cottage, which is even further), I ended up spending the night so mom and dad would have a good time and not have to hurry home.   Before they left, they put him down for a little nap and told me to give him a snack when he woke up...

He's just growing up way too fast for his grandma!  I can't believe that he's 16 months old already.  After his snack, he played awhile and then I took him for a nice walk on a bike path that runs right in front of their house.  When we got back I gave him his new goodies that I brought for him...

I love this age when they enjoy playing with the boxes as much as their toys...

In addition to taking care of Corbin, I did have to let Emmy and Edie out.  Honestly, do you know of any other dogs that have their own gated room and their own couch?

I almost forgot what a mess little ones can make when they eat.  We had lasagna and garlic sticks that Corbin couldn't get enough of...

Honestly, Corbin is the perfect little guy!  He was beyond good for his grandma and I really look forward to watching him again.  I literally spent time just enjoying him playing and running around.

I've been wanting to share one of my most favorite photos of Corbin shortly after he was born, being held by his proud father (our #3 son)...

Isn't this photo awesome!  I'm just a typical grandmother who loves to brag about her grandkids.  Nothing wrong with that!

  1. There's nothing wrong with that at all! I am in some serious need of bonding with my little guy!
