Grandpa Takes Corbin Fishing For The First Time

Fishing is not about the fish, it's the time spent together catching them.

Ever since Mr. Cottage gave Corbin his first fishing pole for his birthday, we've all talked about taking Corbin fishing this summer.  We finally got our youngest son, Chris, his wife, Erin, and little Corbin to our cottage.  We all got on the boat with poles and bait, but unfortunately the winds were a bit strong, so Mr. Cottage decided we would ride around the lake and when we got back, they would fish off the docks.  You can see how thrilled Corbin is...NOT...

Finally, a bit of a smile...

Grandpa and Corbin getting his pole ready to go in for the first time, worms and all...

Something is on the line and Corbin is getting excited...

It's a bluegill...

Yes, he makes a grab for and touches every fish he brings in...

"Lookie-Lookie, my first fish.  Can I keep it for a pet?"...

Mr. Cottage kept putting the worms on and Corbin kept reeling in the fish...

Until he started to get bored and was swinging his pole around, with the hook in it.  Yup, time to stop until the next time Mr. Cottage takes him out...

And Corbin really did ask to keep every fish, that he caught, as a pet!

I've joined up with the following link parties.  Come join me:

  1. How fun and what a pretty setting! My daughter always liked fishing when she was younger but would get bored pretty fast if there were no fish to be caught!

  2. Carol, time with grandparents is always so special for kids. My Nanna passed away 44 years ago, yet she continues to influence me to this day. I wonder if you'd share this and some of your other lovely posts at my new Five Star Frugal linkup, where we're sharing ways to live elegantly for less? I think time with grandies is definitely a five star frugal way to spend time. I'd be thrilled to have you. Love, Mimi xxx
