I've been so excited about Artprize and rambling on and on about it that I completely forgot to mention that I signed up to Blog everyday for the month of October. If you look on the right side of my blog, you'll see the button for it. Now you're probably wondering why I would do something like this when I've been blogging every day this year. One, it's a way to meet and see other bloggers and for them to see my blog, and two, trust me when I say this is sometimes really hard to do. We're getting down to the end of this year and every little nudge helps me to fulfil my challenge of blogging each and every single day.
Today was my last day of volunteering for Artprize until next year. On my way back home, I noticed an area near our house where the leaves had fully turned their beautiful crimson and golds. The weatherman had forecast rain and colder temperatures for tonight and already the sky was darkening. I pulled into our garage, went inside and grabbed my camera. I told Mr. Cottage I was walking down to the woods to get some photos. Ever since we've lived in our house, we had wonderful woods at the end of our street. Mr. Cottage and I would go for walks with the dogs and the neighborhood kids loved playing in it. About 5 years ago as we were coming home from Florida for the winter we noticed the woods had disappeared! As in completely disappeared! We later found out that the person who owned this land had cleared all the trees and was planning on building more roads and houses in this area. It was right about the same time that the housing market crashed and needless to say, it's nothing but an open field today. So sad, except for the beautiful foliage I was able to capture...
This is our front yard and trust me when I say there's many more leaves to fall yet...
We have a huge maple tree in front of our house that always turns a beautiful orange-red every autumn. It's just starting to turn and this is one of it's leaves....
You can tell I just love this time of year!
WOW! Great colors, Carol! We haven't even seen a tiny bit of color change yet! I just LOVE the fall colors - it's really my favorite season!
