Having Fun In Retirement

Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.                                                                                     ~Leo Bascaglia

Last weekend was quite the weekend for Mr. Cottage and I.  I showed my art in the art show at our RV park on Saturday and Sunday evening, Mr. Cottage played in our talent show.  I was so sick after the art show that I just wasn't able to tell you about the wonderful talent show.  Mr. Cottage had already purchased his 12 string Gibson guitar when I met him in college.  He would play it every so often and like other things in life, family and commitments detained our creative spirit.  A few years ago, he brought his guitar down to Florida where he plays with a group that meets weekly.  Last weekend at our talent show, Mr. Cottage played and sang a solo of Kansas City.  Wow, he plays and sings and I paint with watercolor.  Who would have guessed this just a few years ago about us?

Every year our RV park has a women's luncheon and fashion show.  This is the first year I was asked to model.  I said yes and was so thrilled and then reality set it.  Walking through the crowd and onto the stage.  Yikes!  Then when I got sick, I did my best to make sure I would be well enough to participate in it.  The clothes were from the Dress Barn.  We went last Monday to pick out what we would be wearing and I was in no mood to shop, a real rarity for me.  We met two hours earlier today for Marybeth to help us with our makeup.  She's a makeup consultant for Mary Kay and by the time she finished with us I wanted to buy everything that was used on my face.  Here's the first outfit I modeled...

The photo for the second outfit didn't turn out quite good enough to post, but I wanted you to get the jest of what it was.  I think I'll end up buying the yellow top.  It has a cowl neckline and is sleeveless...

This dress is definitely coming back to Michigan with me.  $50 for the dress and jacket and all of us models get 30% off whatever we purchase.  So $35 is just too hard to pass up!

Anyways, minus me being sick for a week, Mr. Cottage and I have been on a roll of activity in our RV park.  This coming week will be our last week to really play and have fun before we start packing.  Who says that retired people sit around in rocking chairs all day long?  Let the fun begin...
