Two-legged creatures we are supposed to love as we love ourselves. The four-legged, also, can come to seem pretty important. But six legs are too many from the human standpoint.

Yesterday, as our contractor was leaving, he spotted two walking sticks, but then we both agreed they were Praying Mantis. As we talked, we both mentioned about what was coming for the male, because we both agreed that the female would eat the male after mating...
Obviously, I ran and grabbed my camera. I have to admit that when I first saw them, I was looking at them straight on and didn't really notice that there were two who were mating...
After taking these photos, I hurried inside to Google about Praying Mantis and how long their mating lasts...
If I was really thinking, I would have brought my Kindle outside while I was researching...
Because when I went back outside. they were gone. He, for the much needed protein that the female would need for her eggs, and her, going on her merry way...
This is what they looked like without being close up, just in case you should run across one, or two...
I mentioned this to Mr. Cottage and he said he saw a Praying Mantis awhile ago on his truck while it was parked at our new house. All the years we lived in our other house, I never saw any. Maybe I'll get to see a few more in action at our new location.
