JOY

"Now and then it is good to pause in our pursuit of Joy
and just be Joyful."

A few years ago, Mr. Cottage and I were at a local flea market when I found an old window for only $5.  I had every intention of doing "something" with it, but really wasn't sure just what.  It went from our shed at the cottage, to our garage and anywhere else you can think of over time.  We finally moved and it moved right along with us.

I forgot to take any before photos of it, but it was an ugly brown on the interior side and white on the outside.  I decided to paint the interior side white, but I wanted it to have an old look.  I used a method I had used before.  I painted portions of the frame a weathered look, mixing several paints to get that color.  Then I took beeswax and rubbed it over the weathered paint.  I painted my frame white and when everything was dry, I took a dry cloth and rubbed the areas where the paint had covered the beeswax.

We haven't hung too many pictures or art on the walls yet, so I thought this would look great on top of our china hutch.  I bought wood letters from Michael's, painted them white and put a coat of Golden's Pearl Mica Flakes (small) over the top of each letter.  To help hold the letters onto the glass panes, I used some putty from my dollhouse miniature items.  It's very similar to poster putty and it won't leave marks on the glass when removed...

If you look closely at the next couple of photos, you might be able to make out where I had used my beeswax...

What's great about this, I can change the wording, put photos behind the glass panes and just have fun being creative with it; and all this for only $5!
