I'm getting ready to paint more of our baseboards in our lower level. Mr. Cottage has finished painting the walls and I'm just about ready to start priming and painting the oak trim. PAINTING OAK TRIM? Yes, I want a clean fresh look and I'm so not into the grains of oak! Our older house had hardwood floors throughout, but that's not the case in our condo. All the main rooms have carpeting, especially in the lower level...
You can read and see photos of how to paint baseboards without getting paint on your carpeting here and here...
You'll see that I used a simple table knife to get the tape under the baseboards. Don't use your good silver knife for this. Our silverware in our kitchen is really old. So old, that Mr. Cottage mentioned about us buying new silverware when we first moved into our condo, but obviously the money went to other projects. Growing up, one of our kids knew a lot of magician tricks and use to kid around, especially when we went to restaurants. One of these tricks usually involved a fork. But somewhere along the way, the other two kids learned how to do this trick, but then they all started fooling around with OUR forks. This was the result...
Yes, you're seeing the bends that won't go away. Even now, with them 35+ years old, they still fool around in restaurants and even our house with a few of these silverware tricks. Anyways, I've got all the carpeting and baseboards taped up
and I'm in the process of getting the blue painter's tape onto the walls...
Then tomorrow I plan on priming and start painting with BM White Dove. I've been using this great shade of white for years and it's the only white I will use for trim and cabinets...
It's still going to be awhile, but I can hardly wait to show you my art studio. After the trim, I want to get rid of the vertical blinds on our sliding door and decorate and clean up the place. Something to really look forward to!

Painting is one of those things, that although it falls within our ability to do, we just don't want to do anymore. But it looks like you're doing a good job!
ReplyDeleteWe have hired out for certain projects, but as long as we're physically able, I really don't mind it. I won't do bathrooms, heights or our kitchen cabinets, where we did hire professional painter
ReplyDeleteGreat tips. It’s always a pleasure for me to see how picky my clients are about the smallest details. Women have been my best educators to learn what’s truly important to them in their home. A few men too, but 99.99% are the women with their eagle-eyes attention to everything. Thanx again.
