~Harley Brown
Before I start in on my next project, I thought I better hurry up and take photos to share with everyone. You can rarely see the surface of the tables once I'm at work...
I seriously didn't stage the mess shown below. This is what my space really looked like until I started to get it organized and everything in it's place.
I love surrounding myself with things I love and/or mean a lot to me...
I ended up whitewashing these old apple crates that I used as part of my art show display, from my basketweaving days...
The seagrass basket on the top shelf was the third basket I ever wove...
Here's a closeup...
After I quit weaving baskets, I became a Longaberger sales consultant for a few year and each time I had a show, I had the hostess sign and date a spot on this market basket. I ended up with two market baskets and what I discovered is they make a great basket to hold file folders...
I love this little stuffed guy. I'm not sure what he's suppose to be, but I found and bought him shortly after Christmas one year and I just can't seem to put him away...
And I love birds...
I also have my collection of mice on one of these shelves. For years I collected them and received many as gifts. I finally had to tell everyone "please, no more". When we moved, I cleared them out and kept my favorite. The pig in front, was actually a Christmas gift exchange that I received my freshman year in college. It literally has a slot on the other side to insert coins, just like a real piggy bank...
One of the first mixed-media artist that I started to follow was Donna Downey. I love the words and inspiration of this plaque...
This owl bank belonged to my sister. I won't go into all the details now, but she was my only sibling and she died in 1998 at the age of 46. I'll share this story another time, but this owl is from the 1960's...
Then there's all the storage boxes I made and desperately needed. You can read about them here and here...
And more baskets and bins...
I bought this print from an artist friend of mine, Elissa Brown of The Freckled Army.
I would have loved this as an original, because she paints part of this on the glass and it gives it a three-dimensional look. Her work is fabulous, and yes, I'm a Libra!
What would I do without this fabulous printer? Would you believe I got this brand new $500 printer for free! FREE! When I bought my Canon Rebel camera, Canon had a special deal running at the time...
The printer normally sold for $500, but they had a special for $400. BUT, if I bought one of several Canon cameras, I would get a $400 American Express credit card, essentially purchasing this printer for FREE...
It's fabulous! The prints are great, it's very easy to use and there's 8 color cartridges. The thing is, about this same time I was seriously planning on buying some kind of printer for my artwork anyways...
Luscious colors...
And really great storage containers...
These are the same track lights that I moved from our old house to our new place...
There's always so much to be grateful for...
