May Flower Challenge - Day 18, Orchids

Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.

Yesterday I had to go grocery shopping again (not my favorite past time!).  As I made my way in, I went by their flower shop and noticed the gorgeous orchids immediately.  The color really grabbed my eyes and I just had to grab my phone and take a few photos...

I know there are places in the world where these beautiful flowers grow naturally, but that certainly isn't true here in Michigan.  I have to be honest and tell you that we've never owned a real orchid plant.  I've always admired their beauty, but I've heard they're hard to maintain.  They had several different colors at the store, but by far the blue orchid plants were the most striking.

Remember to check out Lori's blog to see other beautiful flowers.  Have you ever had an orchid?  Just wondering if they are as hard to maintain as I've heard.

Mr. Cottage and I, along with Molly, are heading up to our Red Painted Cottage for the weekend.  I'm hoping to get some other great flower shots once we get there.  What I'm not looking forward to is the heavy-duty cleaning that has to be done each spring.  Spiders and their webs go together with cottages near water.  Yucky!  But someone has to do it and that someone is ME.  Mr. Cottage has lots of his own chores he has to tend to once we get there.  But I really am looking forward to moving up there for the summer.  It's just a great place to be, minus those darn spiders!

  1. WOW!!! So blue! I've been seeing blue flowers everywhere recently. I love Orchid plants. I have had them and they last long but I honestly have a difficult time getting them to bloom again. But, I enjoyed the plant while the blooms lasted.
