Little People

“You’re never too old to become younger.”

I think most of you are familiar with the Cabbage Patch dolls that were quite popular a number of years ago, but I wonder if any of you are familiar with the Little People?   The Little People dolls were created by Xavier Roberts in the 1970's and 1980's and sold for quite a bit of money.  They were the "original cabbage patch", but they were much larger in size than the Cabbage Patches that were so popular a few years ago.  My parents first saw them on one of their many travels and knew they had to buy three, one for my mother and one each for my sister and I.  So they ended up flying them back home with them, going through the airport and bringing them onto the plane.  They actually had people coming up to them to see the cute "babies".

This is the one I received...

Just like the Cabbage Patch dolls, mine came with adoption papers and she was already named, Geraldine Lynn.  The original Little People also came with a hand-signed signature from Xavier Roberts...

Yup, right under the diaper.  My sister's doll was named Mabel Merle...

And when you held her, she almost resembled a real baby...

that is, until you got up close and saw her face!  Just for the heck of it, I went onto Ebay to check the going prices for these dolls.  Some of them were going for $400 and more.  I gave my mother's doll to our only granddaughter, Sophia and I will continue to keep mine and my sister's doll.  No selling of either of them!

I also have to share one more doll that is special to me, my Emmett Kelly doll that I received from Santa when I was quite young...

You can tell that he's been played with quite a bit.  Obviously, he's in need of his one shoe being recovered.  I also found this doll on Ebay, but again, I have no plans of ever selling him.  Just too many memories.
