A Little Hiccup, But Returning To Normal

If you break your neck, if you have nothing to eat, if your house is on fire, then you got a problem.  Everything else is inconvenience.

Well, I didn't get home to watch HGTV last evening.  In fact, I didn't get home until after 9 pm because Mr. Cottage wasn't taken into surgery until after 4:30.  Then when he was in recovery he developed a bit of a "hiccup".  Let's just say that the anesthesia had him beyond spaced out and quite looney.  Anyways, I've been home chilling out with the dogs, having my coffee, napping and reading the newspaper.  He's still hoping to come home later today.  But for now, I'm thinking the worse is behind us and we can try getting back on the road to living normal again.

But something that isn't real normal around our house are giant mushrooms.  As I was pulling into the driveway the other day I saw two huge mushrooms.  Then yesterday, I noticed one had fallen over and the other had opened up even more...

Son #2 stopped over to pick up Hoover and got down on the ground to take this photo for me, using his keys to put things into perspective.  Even he said he's never seen one this large before.  I went out to measure it and it stands over 9 inches tall and is 7 inches across.  That's one big fungi...

Any day is a good normal day when I can start talking about giant mushrooms instead of medical issues about anyone in our family.

  1. That's okay...normal is boring. And giant mushrooms aren't "normal!"
