Getting Back Into The Groove

Life is not always fair.  Sometimes you get a splinter even sliding down a rainbow.

Wow, I did something today that never happens.  I actually slept in until 9:30 am!  I think the past few days of dealing with Mr. Cottage's gallbladder surgery finally caught up with me.  Those hours at a hospital can be very exhausting for the healthy person.  I've been there and done that too many times in the past, so I guess I really shouldn't be too surprised.  Mr. Cottage came home last evening and he's really moving in slow motion, too; which is to be expected of him.

The only real casualty of all of this was my raspberries.  I bought them on Friday afternoon and right afterwards we got the call to take Mr. Cottage to the ER.  By the time I finally took a peek at them, they were too far gone.  I hadn't bought much, thank goodness.  I was going to make muffins or some other baked goods with them.  I also bought blueberries and fortunately they hold up a tad better than raspberries.  So I quickly rinsed them and put them on a cookie sheet to dry...

I spread paper towels under it and after they dried, I removed the paper towels and put the cookie sheet in the freezer.  That way, all the blueberries will go into a container and into the freezer and I'll be able to take out whatever I need for when I bake with them.

I'll be working at our primary election tomorrow, along with a ton of other things on my to do list.  No sleeping in like today, that's for sure!
