Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children.

All three of our boys loved to play with Legos as they were growing up. Everytime we turned around, another birthday or Christmas always brought new boxes of Legos for the boys to spend hours playing with. We did have one very important rule that they always had to follow: Legos could NEVER be taken outside to play with. They had to stay inside at all times. So as the boys grew up and eventually left home, we ended up with several large boxes of all these Legos. Eventually I poured them all into a large plastic tub, closed the lid and forgot about them....UNTIL NOW!!
When I was in Virginia a few weeks ago, I discovered that our grandson loves Legos. So when they arrived the other evening, I took them downstairs and showed them the tub. Prior to me putting them into this tub, they had gotten really dirty just sitting in the large cardboard boxes. So our wonderful daughter-in-law, Lisa, ended up washing and sorting through all the THOUSANDS of Legos...
This is just a tiny fraction of what we have. Lisa had already sorted through much of the photo above and was trying to separate them by color by putting them into plastic bags...
Lisa was thrilled that we still had lots of instructions to put many of these together. These are just a few of the instructions that she found in the large tub...
Lisa also informed us that the large platforms are very expensive to buy today. Some cost as much as $30 for just one...
And it sounds like the people aren't as available to have as they once were...
Along with little hats...
Our grandson and granddaughter were having fun with their creations...
Yup, we have a gold mine of Legos! Grandma is pretty happy about saving these and about the rule of not taking them outside. I was really happy to see the grandkids enjoying them!

Hi Carol, I think that is it wonderful that you saved these . . . it is going to be a treat for your grand-kids each time they visit. Leg-gos are built to last so they might just be passed on to the next generation of great-grand-kids, too. Wow!!!
