Oh Deer, Thank You Mr. Cottage

I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.

Mr. Cottage was outside with our granddog, Hoover, when all of a sudden he yelled and told me to hurry outside and to bring the camera.   Whenever he says this I know it will usually involve an animal.  I grabbed my camera and ran outside barefoot and saw Mr. Cottage pointing to the lake...

A deer out in the lake...
Fortunately there's a lot of shallow areas and Mr. Cottage said it'll be fine, but a couple of times I wasn't so sure.  I really kept my eye on it until it really looked safe...

Whew!  The rest of the deer photos speak for themselves...

I asked Mr. Cottage how this might have happened and he said that people on the island probably scared it and it just ran into the water.  It's hunting season right now.  You can see a boat on the left of the photo below...

You can see two people on the island and their dog...

If you've read my blog postings in the past, you know I'm always concerned for any animal that I see is in distressed.  I'm just so happy it got out of the lake and onto land!
