It's Almost Here!

As the sun colors flowers, so does art color life.

You're going to be hearing me talk and share a lot about Artprize over the next few weeks!  This is the fourth year for it and I've been one of the many volunteers ever since it started.  I really enjoy voter registration because I have a chance to meet and converse with the people.  I've registered people from other countries and many of the artists, themselves.  Every year, all voter registration volunteers must go through training because everything we do is on the computer.  This year I'm only volunteering for the Grand Rapids Art Museum during Artprize and today was our training.  Because we're still living at the cottage, I had to get up early to make sure I got there on time.  Look what I saw from our window when I looked out early this morning...

Isn't it beautiful!  I looked a few minutes later and saw some fishermen in a boat...

Now if we can just find a way to live here all the time while we're in Michigan, that would be terrific; but unfortunately, there's a few obstacles in our way.

Going back to Artprize, it officially begins on Wednesday, Sept. 19.  I volunteered to work both that day and the next.  But I'm really anxious to walk around the city and see all the fantastic, beautiful and unusual art.  You can see photos of all the entries if you click right here.

And I'm really excited for Wednesday, Sept. 25 to get here.  My friend, Michelle, is coming all the way from Australia and she'll be in town with another friend to see Artprize.  We met through our Fly Tribe group of artists.  We're all like close friends, but many of us have never met in person, including Michelle and I.  Now you know why I'm excited!
