Whenever I mention to someone that I'm selling my art on Etsy, they usually will say "WHAT'S THAT?". Every now and then someone will acknowledge that they shop on Etsy. If by some chance you're one of the clueless ones, you can check it out right here, but I'm going to obviously lead you to my shop first. I've named it Brushstrokes And More. I even took a class in spring of 2011 at our local art college to learn what we need to do to sell on Etsy. Once I got my shop up and running, I thought for sure the sales would be flying in. WRONG! And it's not just me. I've discovered that if you were fortunate to start selling on Etsy a number of years ago, you probably are doing quite well with it. But unfortunately there are literally millions of shops and people now selling on Etsy and trying to get yours noticed by all the potential shoppers is almost next to impossible.
Each listing on Etsy costs 20 cents. That doesn't sound like much, but after you've listed quite a few items and nothing has sold, then you have to pay it again if you decide to re list your expired listings. I took a peek at my shop a few weeks ago and noticed I had only one item in it and all the rest had expired. I've been debating what to do. There's other online sources to list and sell your art, as well as local galleries and stores. But my decision was made for me this morning. I just finished painting a custom watercolor for a customer and needed to get it into my shop as a reserved listing for her. Can you imagine what she would think if she looked in my shop now and saw nothing but her listing and one other item! That would look pretty pathetic. So I went through and reactivated some of my expired listings, at least for the time being.
To try and get things rolling a bit, I'm offering 20% off of everything in my shop until the end of September. I have a code set up in my shop and all you have to do is use that to get your discount. I also offer free shipping. And remember, Christmas is going to be here before you know it. The code is JUST4YOU This is for everything currently in my shop. Sorry, no discounts for custom orders.
Here's a sneak peak at a few of the items...
Barnyard...
Keep Calm and Stay Prayerful...
I will be adding note cards and hopefully cellphone cases, as well as journals and possibly pendants with my art; hopefully within the next few months.
