A sailor’s joys are as simple as a child’s.
~Bernard Moitessier
I'm just so thrilled that we did what we did, when we did it. Sailing is a lot of work, although today there's so many more conveniences for all boaters. We often talked about switching to a trawler versus a sailboat, which many older sailors do. But not being very wealthy, we never made the switch. The cost is usually quite high.
You've got to remember that these photos were taken years ago, before the digital camera; and some have even changed colors. But these are a few I found that I wanted to share with you. Mr. Cottage, with the sun behind the mast...
The setting sun with one of the kids at the bow...
Getting our main sail ready...
A rainbow at the end of a storm. Thank goodness we were in port...
I remember this storm like it was yesterday. I had minor surgery on my hand and couldn't do dishes. We had invited our friend, Bruce, for dinner; and as Mr. Cottage and Bruce were doing the dishes, our boat was actually heeling right in the slip. Bruce was jokingly telling us that we should get down in the basement because he just knew there were tornadoes up there...
From the inside, looking out of our new sailboat...
If you've never been sailing and get a chance to, GO! There's nothing like listening to the waves and the wind, no motors and literally smooth sailing.
Come over and see Wow Us Wednesdays!
