A Late Summer Reading List

Anyone who says they have only one life to live must not know how to read a book

Everywhere I look I'm seeing signs of fall, but the last time I looked at my calendar it said it's only August 7.  For those of us who live in Michigan, we don't want to rush into autumn sooner than we must.  Our summers are short (and it's seemed shorter than normal this summer because of the lower temperatures), and our winters can be harsh.

So to those of you who have returned to school already, as in California; and those who have started decorating your houses for fall, you may want to stop reading and not go beyond here.

You see, I've got some late summer reading books I want to recommend to those of you who still want a great beach read or a read by your pool or lounging on your deck.

I LOVE historical novels!  The Circle of Ceridwen is a series of 4 books written by Octavia Randolph.  You won't want this to end, even after reading the final book.  The first is The Circle of Ceridwen...

The second is Ceridwen of Kilton...

Third in the series, The Claiming...

And the final one, The Hall Of Tyr...

Nola Gals was written by a high school classmate I graduated with, Barbara Rebbeck.  It's written for teens, but adults love it, too.

Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen.  I never saw the movie because I wanted to just relish the book...

The Age Of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker is a coming of age book in a new and different world...

I haven't read the following books yet, but I've heard nothing but the best on them and I'm hoping to have one or two of them completed by Labor Day.

The Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline...

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr...

The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom...

I'd love to hear your recommendations or what you've been reading this summer.  Quick, hurry...fall is almost in the air!
