I know today is my Thursday's Ramblings, but I just couldn't pass up Miss Molly's big day. Actually, yesterday was her 9th birthday and as soon as I got up to the cottage, we let her see the cake I baked for her the day before...
Mr. Cottage just shook his head and kept saying poor Molly when we tried getting the birthday hat on her. Fortunately, I was able to get a few good photos. We ended up putting the cake on the floor and letting her take a few licks of the peanut butter and a bite or two out of the cake before taking it away from her...
Here's where she sampled her doggie birthday cake...
The evening before, I made her cake. The minute I took the carrots out of the package, she came running over and wanted some...
Yes, that's her with her tongue out and anxiously waiting for me to give her a carrot..
How could I say no to her? Right after this photo, she got her carrot and I finished making and baking her cake...
I have to give a big shout out to My Sweet Savannah for sharing this Doggie Birthday Cake recipe on her blog last week.
DOGGIE BIRTHDAY CAKE
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup cooking oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2/3 cut honey
- 2 cups shredded carrots
- 2 cups whole wheat or white flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
Mix together and bake in a greased pan (I used my bundt pan) for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool
IF you want to put frosting on, mix 8 ounces cream cheese, 4 ounces peanut butter and 1 tablespoon olive oil. Spread on the cake and top with shredded coconut.
Molly loves her peanut butter and carrots, so you can tell from the photos that I spread peanut butter around the bottom of the cake and pressed 9 petite carrots around in the peanut butter.
We gave half the cake to her cousin, Gus, and the rest will be cut into smaller pieces and frozen and given to her little by little. The last thing we need is for her to get sick from eating too much.
And to end her special night, we all went for a pontoon ride...
Someone is going to sleep good tonight...

I just found your blog today, linked from Cozy Little House. I have a little miniature Schnauzer, Miss Bella, that would love this cake!!! I will have to make it for her birthday this month. I think I need to make a party of it, as she is 12 this year, and the love of my life!
ReplyDeleteI will follow your blog now...I could love a cabin like yours, but not the spiders!!! They are the same here in the Lake of the Ozarks area!
