Moments with Molly - A Bit of Frustration

This is a photo I took of Molly sometime during our Florida trip this past year...

Mr. Cottage and I love her longer ears, eyebrows and mustache, but because her ears got so badly matted earlier this summer, she had to have them shaved off...

You certainly can't tell that she was groomed only five weeks ago.  Her hair was so nice, soft and fluffy but between going out in the rain and licking herself, her hair has become one tangled mess.  Probably the worse I can ever remember it being...

I can usually work the matting's out, but this time they were so bad and some of them went right down against her skin.  Every time I see her licking, I'm scolding her and telling her "No Lick"...

She doesn't even like us touching her wherever the mats are and I'm guessing it's because it does go right to her skin and it probably hurts.  I was very gentle with her today and decided we just need to cut some of these huge mats out.  Surprisingly, she laid very nicely for me and almost seemed to enjoy this...

I think I got the majority removed, but look at all this...

She's one really chopped up looking Maltese/Shih Tzu.  Fortunately, she has another appointment just before we leave for Florida and I'm sure they'll be back to shaving her again.
