~Terri Guillemets
I'm finally back in my studio today and trying some new techniques. An owner of a local store told me awhile back that she supports local artists and would love to have my art in her shop, but she found that art on canvas sold better than those in frames. Go figure!
So after contacting a few of my artist friends, this is what I've come up with so far...
I painted the sides of the canvas and after adhering my print, I did a bit of stamping of the edges to look like my original...
Here's one of my more popular ones...
And this is what I used. I sprayed them in the garage, inside of a deep cardboard carton and then carefully put my print onto the canvas, rubbing the edges and turning it over and rubbing the inside of the canvas to make sure all of the print is securely in place.
I'm going to put gel medium over it all to make it look authentic and on a few of the pieces I'll glue on a few embellishments. I want my prints to look as much as the originals as possible. My watercolors look much better on deep wood boards vs canvas.
It's been fun experimenting and now I have to see if the owner can meet with me in the next few days. I'd like to get these into her store before Thanksgiving. I'll show you my finished pieces in another day or two. I'll be out for a fun day of shopping tomorrow. Remember, shop and spend locally!
looks great carol!! glad it worked for you :)
ReplyDeleteI love your art, Carol -great colors and textures! xo
ReplyDeleteI love that adhesive spray too Carol. I used it on our book to hold the pages together. Good work on your canvas prints. Still a lot of work put into them, and they should sell well. Love that watercolor!
ReplyDeleteThey look really good, Carol. Keep us posted when you get them in the store. I'll be anxious to see how they sell!
