Acceptance

“Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections.”

OK, so now you know my one little word for 2013 is acceptance.  I really had a couple of reasons for using this word, but honestly it really chose me.  I'm not going into all the specifics now, but suffice to say that there will be some very big changes taking place for Mr. Cottage and I during 2013.  Mr. Cottage really dislikes change and I thrive on change, but regardless, accepting what is to be is very important for one's sense of happiness and joy.  I'll share a few of the many changes as the time comes, but in the meantime, I am at peace with them.

As you well know, I've really been slacking off on my blogging since the new year began.  It isn't that I haven't wanted to blog, it's just that there hasn't been much happening around here.  I mentioned that I got a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas, so much of my time has been spent cramming in free books and free videos to watch before my 30 days of Amazon's Prime membership are over.  I just finished the Hunger Games book and loved it, and now I've started on the second book of the series, Catching Fire...

I've watched the movie Hugo and most of Downton Abbey.  I just finished episode 5 of season two and found it the most emotional of all, so far!  Seriously, if you can get your hands on the Season 1 and 2 of Downton Abbey, I promise you won't be disappointed.

And much to my delight, I've just started to get back into painting again with my watercolors.  However, I searched high and low and could not find my watercolor brushes.  I'm thinking they're back home in Michigan!  Our house sitters have been on a cruise and I think they're returning to our house this weekend.  So I'll be giving them a call and hopefully they'll be able to find them.  But to play it safe, I went to a local art store and after spending a fortune, I at least have some of the basic brushes to start with.

So there you have.  I'm really going to do my best to write more often and to share some of my new paintings with you.
