Home Sweet Home

"When you're safe at home you wish you were having an adventure; when you're having an adventure you wish you were safe at home"
~Thornton Wilder

Mr. Cottage, Molly and I all arrived home safely on Monday to 29 degree temperatures.  Fortunately, it's already starting to warm up a tad.  I posted a few photos on Facebook as we traveled, but if you're not on Facebook, I just have to share some of these photos with you.   This photo of Molly was how she spent almost the entire drive from Florida to Michigan.  She sat facing the back of the truck window and making sure that our trailer was definitely following us all the way home.  Just too cute...

The one place we don't like driving through is Atlanta.  So Mr. Cottage always makes sure that we go through the heart of the city early on a Saturday or Sunday morning to avoid as much traffic and congestion as possible.  This time round it went perfect...

Onto the hills and mountains of Tennessee.  Since our last trip this way, I noticed they put fencing up along the highway to keep the rocks from going onto the road.  Smart move...

And I couldn't resist this photo of Corbin, Ky., because our youngest grandson's name is Corbin...

Mr. Cottage got the truck and trailer unloaded in record time.  But the fun part is going through each tub and deciding where everything needs to go and putting it away.  I've already started packing some of the items in tubs to take to The Red Painted Cottage where we'll be living once we put our house on the market...

Because we won't be living in our RV any longer, I brought as much back with us as I could.  I just know I'll find places to put these drawer organizers...

Along with all the items we brought back, Grumpy had to come back home with us.   We bought him many years ago on one of our many trips to Walt Disney World because it reminded all of us of Grumpy Mr. Cottage...

The scary part was realizing how much stuff we really brought back and then looking around our house and seeing all the other "STUFF" that is everywhere.  It will be a major task in deciding what to keep, sell and get rid of.  Downsizing is not for sissies...

Now to finished unpacking and then to start decluttering the house to get it ready to sell.  Never a dull moment!

  1. I am SOOOOOO feeling your pain. We've been spared the full impact of our down-sizing because of the second house, but that's about to come to an end. Later this month, the decisions need to be made. Part of me is excited, part terrified.
