At Waters Edge

"If a child is to keep his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement, and mystery of the world we live in."
                                                                     ~Rachel Carson

Yesterday I went into town to have lunch with our middle son and decided to go and see Corbin afterwards.  With all the commotion of us selling, buying and moving I just haven't spent as much time with our youngest grandson as I would like.  Corbin had just woken up when I arrived and after a short snack, off we went to Lake Michigan...

Between just running and falling into the sand and chasing seagulls...

And not being able to catch the seagulls...

Corbin was having a blast...

His mother, Erin, told me that Corbin would go just to the water's edge and stop without putting his feet into it.  All summer she hasn't been able to get him to go in...

Until now!  Just the day before we had a huge drop in the temperature and when that happens, Lake Michigan's water temperature drops dramatically.  Seriously, NO ONE was in the water, it was that cold...

Corbin's little toes got a bit wet...

And then the wave came!  He was in awe and thought this was the coolest thing ever.  So Erin and I took turns holding his hand as we walked around in a circle...

Going in and coming out...

Going back in and coming out...

Oh, to be a kid again...

This continued for awhile but then we decided it was time to leave if I was going to get back to the cottage before dark...

So I treated everyone to dinner at Porto Bello's in Grand Haven.  OMG, so much food and the desserts were fabulous...

Corbin kept asking about grandpa, so without a doubt, Mr. Cottage WILL be coming with me next time!
