No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did, he would cease to be an artist.
~Oscar Wilde
ArtPrize has begun for it's fifth year and I've signed up to volunteer once again. You can find out more about ArtPrize by clicking right here. There are artists exhibiting their artwork in Grand Rapids, Michigan from all over the United States and from many different countries. Because of us recently moving and being in the midst of making our new house a home, I didn't sign on for as much time as I would have liked to, but at least I'm involved in registration of voters, which I love to do. This past Wednesday was my first day volunteering at our art museum. I arrived early so I would have time to roam around and see some of the art on exhibit there. There's a beautiful reflection pool and fountain at our art museum. This is what I captured upon arriving...
Here's some of the art I saw at the museum. I'm going to show the art first and then who made it or what it was made out of...
This is done in oils and what the painting represents...
Very large in scale...
A close up of an area...
This was created using graphite and ink...
There were people constantly around this...
Some close ups...
This was mixed media on canvas...
The three dimensional red against the white wall was stunning...
This was all created with yarns.
I've got more to share with you and I'll save those for next time.
