Getting Much Done Before Surgery

"Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything"
                                                                               ~George Bernard Shaw

I know I mentioned a few times that I've been having problems with my right knee.  I finally had an MRI that showed I have a torn meniscus, in addition to patellofemoral arthritis.  It's been years since I've had any surgery, but tomorrow, January 16, I'm having outpatient surgery on that bum knee of mine.  My knee has been getting progressively worse, but can you believe that less than 2 weeks ago, it wasn't as bad as it's been!  Reminds me when you hear a noise in the car and you go to have it checked out and the noise isn't there.  You begin to second guess yourself, should I go ahead with the surgery or not, but in my case, it's a no brainer.  I know I still have to have the surgery done.  But I decided to take advantage of the situation.  When we bought our condo, all the trim was oak.  The photo below shows the door leading to the garage.  The white door with the oak trim did nothing for me...

All the interior doors were oak and we had all of them replaced.  But looking around the place, this is what you saw...

Everywhere, and it was driving me crazy...

I didn't know when I might get to the trim after surgery, so I decided to tackle all the door trim within the past few days.  The doors were painted at the factory, so at least they didn't need painting.  I sanded all the trim, primed and painted two coats of Benjamin Moore's White Dove...

All the door knobs were replaced with oiled bronze levers...

But we discovered the exterior doors weren't "white" like we thought they were...

It's hard to tell in these photos, but the exterior doors have a pinkish white paint on them.  Not good...

Needless to say, I'm going to have another painting project when spring comes!  You can see we're making a bit of progress and depending on how well my knee heals and how soon, I'll be sharing some more photos fairly soon.

  1. I'm right with ya sistah! Some people might consider that to be a little anal, but it would drive me NUTS! Prayers for an easy surgery and speedy recovery!
