It's Time To Get Moving

Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it.

I know many of you are aware of my bad knee.  The arthroscopy surgery, I recently had, got rid of my torn meniscus and for awhile the patellofemoral arthritis was feeling a bit better, too.  However, knee replacement is going to be in my immediate future.  But for the past year, when all of this started up, I had to give up walking, riding my bicycle, kayaking, yoga, zumba and more.  And to help compensate for my lack of keeping fit, I cut back on my portions of food and trying to watch what I was eating.  Well, it's just not working!  Which is proof that everyone needs to move and keep active.  Everything has been settling in my mid-section, which I really dislike!

So today I went and checked out a fitness center that Mr. Cottage and I would be able to join for FREE!  Yes, I did say FREE!  Our Medicare insurance plan, that we signed up for, allows us to go to certain fitness centers for free.  The one I think we're going to join is MVP Sportsplex...

Not all fitness centers have a pool, but I was fortunate to find a few that our insurance plan will pay for.  I know that being in water will be one of the best things I can do for myself with this bad knee.  I have to say that I was very impressed with everything that I saw.  Once we sign up, we get a personal fitness trainer to guide us to what we might need.  So I'm hoping there's some machine I might be able to use that won't involve my knees, in addition to going to aquatic exercise programs.  Just before I left, I asked if they offered Pickleball.  You can read more about this growing sport right here and here.   The person said they do have Pickleball, but not on site.  It's in the MVP Fieldhouse, which isn't too far from this location.  When I got home, I told Mr. Cottage about Pickleball being available here.  I think we might have found our fitness center.
