Autumn, the year's last loveliest smile
~William Bryant
Can you believe it's Autumn, already! If you live anywhere in the Midwest or northeastern states, then you know it's here because of the changing leaves. Here in Michigan, we have a kaleidoscope of colorful leaves. Unfortunately, when they reach their peak, it's only a matter of days when they'll start falling from the trees. The photo below was taken two years ago for a blog post, which you can read here. In it, I give a link on how I did my small white gourds/pumpkins. Click here for the directions...
Last year we had already moved into our condo and right after Halloween, I saw these ceramic gourds/pumpkins that were 50% off at a Hallmark store. I decided I could paint the letters on and after Thanksgiving, I could individually wrap them in tissue paper and use them again and again...
I think, overall, I love the real vs the fake. But the one thing I'm most sad about is the wheat (shown above with the brown ribbon) is no longer. I had packed it away when we moved but somehow in the process of me removing it, I ruined it and had to throw it out. I thought I would go back to the store I originally bought it from and get another. They didn't have any last year or this year. I saw some at Home Goods, but they weren't as nice and full as my original. If anyone has seen any like the one above, PLEASE let me know where you found it. I really want another tied bunch of wheat like my old one...
I did a slightly different arrangement this...
I decided to put a decorative pumpkin on my antique scale to give an autumn feel in our kitchen...
Because blue and orange are considered complimentary colors, I went and added this orange ribbon to my candle holder this year. I've also bought additional candy corn for the filler; and no, we do not eat it! I put it in a ziplock bag before adding it back into our storage tub.
I'm saving a few more ideas for next time.
