Blue and White Buffalo Check

Sewing: A creative mess is better than tidy idleness.

Back on August 9, I wrote a blog post about cushions I was making for our cottage and condo.  I gave you a sneak peek of what I was making for the condo and told you I hoped to have them finished prior to leaving for PA.  Unfortunately, that didn't happen.  You can read the posting here.  Time just ran out so I finished it the week between arriving back home from PA and having my knee replaced.  I had so much I wanted to get done before my surgery, but finishing these cushions were number one on my list...

I decided to make these cushions 2 inches thick.  Because of the bold Buffalo check, I also did my best in trying to get all the checks to line up with the 2 inch insert I added between the top and the bottom.  And as if that weren't enough, I also decided to add a back zipper, so I could get them cleaned, if need be.  So they weren't as easy and less time consuming as the ones I made for our cottage.  I also didn't want ties or bows on these for the condo, so I ended up making tabs with Velcro to hold the cushions onto the seat...

Ordinarily, I love to sew, but with all I decided to do with these cushions, to say they were a pain in the neck, is saying that mildly...

But I did reach my goal of finishing them, and with time to spare...

I managed to get my wreath done, which I showed you the other day; and to get all of our Autumn and Halloween items out and on display...

I decided to keep the centerpiece, on the dining table, rather simple this year...

I also hung art on the living room wall.  I knew I wouldn't be going up any ladders after I got home from the hospital, so this was another project that had to get done.  I'll show you our wall with all the art next time.
