BOO at the Zoo with Corbin

Shadows of a thousand years rise again unseen,
Voices whisper in the trees, "Tonight is Halloween!"
                                                           ~ Dexter Kozen.

I haven't seen Corbin since my knee surgery, so when I was asked to join them for Boo at the Zoo, I couldn't refuse.  I have good days and bad with my knee, so when our son and his wife, Erin, came to pick me up, I took a Norco pain pill because I knew there would be lots of walking.  (Mr. Cottage had made previous plans to have our water lines blown out at the cottage with our well guy.  Needless to say, he'll be going to our next outing with Corbin, wherever that may be.)  I also brought my cane and handicap card for the car.  Corbin is a Fire Chief this year...

Our entry into the zoo...

And spiders to greet everyone...

They had a large graveyard set up with headstones and skeletons and right next to that where these Flamingo skeletons to greet everyone...

Weird creatures...

And flying bats...

We went a week ago, on a Friday, and it was packed with kids, parents, strollers and even school age kids.  Everyone was given a bag when they entered to hold all the candy and goodies that were being handed out.  Corbin had his own bag he brought from home...

Fall has definitely come to Michigan...

Since we moved into the condo, we found there is no trick or treating here, just because whatever kids live here, their parents take them to larger housing developments.  So I really enjoyed watching how some of the kids were dressed up in their costumes.  I wasn't able to get a good photo of this girl, put she was dressed the part of a pirate...

Then I saw this little person dressed as a skunk...

And remembered how our one grandson dressed as a skunk when he was much younger.  Now he's 8 years old, living in Texas and I'm really missing him and his sister...

When I first saw this girl, I asked if I could take her photo.  So she posed for me with a smile!  Then I spoke up and said that I've never seen a zombie smile before...

Just Corbin playing some drums as we were near the lion's exhibit...

On our way out, our son and Corbin played in the maze of hay.  Obviously, Corbin is too short to be seen, but our son towered over everything and could help Corbin along...

Mr. Cottage was home by the time we got back, so Corbin, Molly and Mr. Cottage had some play time...

I had to ice my knee that evening and take more pain pills for bedtime, but it was so worth it.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
