Imagine It and A New Lens

“Decorating golden rule: Live with what you love.”

I don't know what it is, but ever since I was little, I have had a love of chalk and chalkboards.  Maybe it's the fact you can draw and write and then erase and start over or if it's just the chalk writing on the slate or what.  But a few years ago, I bought an antique framed mirror at an estate sale.  The mirror was not in good condition, so I replaced it with a panel of wood which I painted with chalkboard paint.  I did a post on it here.  I kept it in my art studio at our previous house, but I haven't put it up anywhere in our condo, as yet.

In the meantime, chalkboard art is showing up everywhere.  It should come as no surprise that I have a board on Pinterest named chalkboard.  I've been wanting to put chalkboard tags on our entryway baskets, but just hadn't found what I wanted until I happened to stroll into Kohls a few weeks prior to Christmas.  I found a set of three large wood tags that happened to be on sale.  I also discovered through someone's blog posting about liquid chalk markers (I'm sorry, but I really can't remember who it belonged to).  So I did a search online and found one that I ordered through Amazon.  It's called IMAGINE IT...

So for the holidays, I wrote on my globe...

And the tags on our entry bench...

Both the image of my liquid chalk and this number two tag were taken with my new camera lens...

For Christmas, I received a new lens for my Canon camera.  I'll be using it for lots of my close-ups.   It's a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II and you can read about it right here
