Moments With Molly...A Weimaraner turns 15 years old today

“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”
                                                              - Roger Caras

I just can't let this special day go by without wishing our granddog a Happy Birthday!  Mercedes turned 15 years old today, and in dog years, she's very old; but you wouldn't know it...

This is the dog that if you turned your back or thought everything was locked away and fine, would eat a bag of chips, a loaf of bread and even got into a closed closet and ate chocolate.  She also flew to Japan and a few years later, flew back home to the States.  She has lived in Georgia, Texas, the Washington DC area, Virginia and has moved one last time to the Dallas/Ft Worth area of TX.   A few years back, she got a sister, Isabella (Bella for short) who's a Hungarian Vizsla...

The two of them have really bonded and we think it's because of Bella's energy and their bonding that has really helped to keep Mercedes her active self and keep her living as long as she has...

I read something recently that stated most Weimaraners life span is 10-12 years.  A few years ago I stayed awhile with them and my granddaughter decided to cover up Mercedes and keep her warm...

But then Sophia took the cover and wrapped Bella in it.  I think I might have shared this photo of her before.  It's so darn cute...

The last time we were at their house in Virginia, I snapped this photo of Mercedes ready to dash to Bella's food bowl.  Not shown in the photo is Bella on the other side of her dish and she hadn't even eaten yet.  Poor Mercedes has also been called a garbage disposal.  She lives for food, even if it's licking Bella's dish after she's eaten and nothing in it...

Other than massive fatty tumors on her, the vet has declared her very healthy.  Sort of like the Energizer Bunny.  YOU GO MERCEDES...

I'll share more of my kitchen command center next time.  I thought it was more important to celebrate Molly's cousin's birthday today.
