Braver than Brave

Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.
                                                                                 ~Ambrose Redmoon

The above quote says it all.  To tell you that I'm terrified of heights is an understatement.  I don't mind flying in a plane, but to ride a ferris wheel or go to the top of a high building and stand along the floor length glass window and look down, I just can't do it.  So when I was in Virginia for a few days visiting our grand kids and we all went to Kings Dominion amusement park, little did I know what I was getting myself into.

Sophia, our nine year old granddaughter, loves going on the Wind Seeker and she wanted me to go on with her and sit next to her.  How could I say no...

I took the above photo before we got onto this 301 foot tall ride.  You have no idea what all I was saying even before it started to go up.  After we reached the top it went around at a pretty good clip and I have to be honest here and tell you that I kept my eyes closed for most of it.  And the thought that I was sitting in a chair that high up that was going round and round was not very comforting to me.  But, I did it for Sophia and I have to say that I think I'm one brave grandma!

We had a very tiring day (at least I did) and on our way out of the park everyone wanted to go up another tower.  This one involved an elevator and just standing at the top and looking out on everything.  This tired and exhausted grandmother decided to sit this one out and let the gang go without me...

No upside down rides for me.  Our son #1 and his wife were in this photo as the kids and I just watched...

I love roller coasters, but not with loops....

Actually, my favorite roller coaster is at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio and it's called the Gemini. Mr. Cottage and I love riding it, getting off and going right back on it again...

See, Braver than Brave!
