My Love of Birdhouses

"In order to see birds it is necessary to become a part of the silence."
                                               ~Robert Lynd

I mentioned that I had to come home from the cottage to get ready for a drive down to Ohio and Kentucky.  We've hardly been at home very much this summer and as I sat in the family room, I noticed one of the birdhouses.  Next thing I knew I was outside with my camera taking photos of them.

It seems like we no sooner get back in the spring, and next thing we see are the birds going into their new houses in our yard.  Here's a peek at a few that we have.

My Mr. Owl Birdhouse, isn't he cute...

I love this really rustic one.  I actually found it at an estate sale a couple of years ago...

This one has taken a little beat from the weather or squirrels...

The moon and the stars...

And finally, just a cute little ornamental one to enjoy in our garden...

Maybe next time if I'm really lucky, I'll get some photo shots with the birds.  Wouldn't that be great!

  2. I love birdhouses. Good thing I have a postage stamp backyard -- not too much room for too many birdhouses -- I could get carried away. Loved seeing your collection!

  3. Cute, cute! I've always thought I'd like to make a birdhouse. Perhaps I will some day soon.
